Summary
DescriptionThe beheading pit at Finlarig Castle - geograph.org.uk - 1044152.jpg
English: The beheading pit at Finlarig Castle This gruesome pit just outside the castle walls is where those who incurred the displeasure of the notorious Black Duncan Campbell of the Cowl met their end. A shaped stone in the pit, now broken, is where the neck rested and chains restrained the victim. Nearby is the hanging tree, also much used by Duncan. Not then an area where a sensitive soul would now wish to pitch a tent!
Perhaps as well that heritable jurisdiction is no longer permitted.
