Summary

Description
English: South entrance to the Great Hall This is the entrance from what is now Queen Eleanor's garden, and would have been one of the entrances from within the castle. Although the Great Hall was built from 1222 onwards, the Norman influence can still be seen in the shape of the doorway, a nearly round arch although with a slight point. The garden is named after Queen Eleanor of Castille (wife of King Henry 3rd) and her daughter-in-law Queen Eleanor of Provence (wife of King Edward 1st).
