Today, for the first time ever, when I asked for one and a concession, the lady said "Sir, over 60s get a pound off" Of course, what I should have said was "Me, over 60? The very idea!" But - as my mum was standing next to me - I took the rebate. When farmer Keith Sherrell began collecting farm machinery in the 60's as a side line to his business of buying and selling used farm machinery, little could he have known how that would grow, as he steadily built up a huge and varied collection that now includes an old grocery store, haberdashery, hardware store, chemist, tobacconist, off licence, and sweet shop. He opened as Oakham Treasures in 2008; and provided a wonderful day out for us all, ably assisted by his wife, three daughters and friends. |
