DescriptionRAF Holmpton Underground Bunker.jpg
English: RAF Holmpton Underground Bunker, Holmpton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Ventilation shafts above a 35,000 square foot bunker some 75 feet below the fields off Rysome Lane, Holmpton.
RAF Holmpton started life in the 1950's as an early warning radar station and eventually became a major hub in the UK's air defences as the National War HQ for RAF Support Command in the 1980s and a major National Operations Centre in the 1990s. Since 2003 it has been home to the Specialist Defence Archive and is now a museum.
