Now returned to genuine 23sqn markings from its time in the Falklands, this was one of the very last Phantoms to retire from RAF service. Before coming to Bentwaters it had been displayed outside the 23sqn hangar at RAF Waddington, until replaced by a Hawer Hunter when the E-3 Sentry unit changed from 23sqn to 8sqn. There can't be many Phantoms that have been replaced by a Huner........ c/n 3454. On display at the Bentwaters Cold War Museum. 05-5-2014 |
