Description
English: Lion Salt Works, Trent and Mersey Canal The salt works here was set up in 1842 and produced salt by evaporating brine, pumped up from some 130ft. below the ground and evaporated in iron pans. The works remained in production until 1986, but is now a museum of the salt industry.
