Summary
DescriptionKempton Park Pumping Station, the pumps-geograph-2364056.jpg
English: Kempton Park Pumping Station - the pumps. This is the main pump floor below engine No. 6 and the presence of some blurring indicates the engine is running. Down the centre of the space (to the left of the picture) are the three pump plungers that could pump 19 -24 million gallons/day to London. The two flywheels are seen above. Down the right had edge is one set of pump valve chambers and air vessels (the other set is out of view to the left). On the left the high-pressure pump crosshead drives a lever that operates a variety of pumps (lubricating oil and an air compressor). In the extreme distance a blurry pump crosshead carries one of the two vertical air pump rods.
