English: Invergarry Castle In clan days this was the principal stronghold of the MacDonnell's of Glengarry.
The castle was built in a stategic location overlooking Loch Oich and guarding routes to the west via Glen Garry. It was built on an outcrop known as Creagan an Fhithich, the Raven's Rock, and the clan crest is a raven perched on a rock. The castle has featured in many clan and national conflicts and been destroyed several times. The last most conclusively in 1750 following the 1745 Jacobite rising. As shown in the photo it was in a very dangerous state but is presently undergoing work to stabilise the stonework.
