English: Firle Place Georgian manor home to Gage family since the 15th century. Site of the original manor of Firle it was rebuilt in the 1550s for Sir John Gage, Vice-chamberlain to Henry VIII, who was able to profit from Dissolution by adding surrounding manors to his estate. The current house was constructed in the 1740s though it does retain some parts of the older Tudor mansion. To the right is St Peter's church which is on the eastern edge of the village. Taken from the footpath that crosses Firle Park from Heighton Street to the village.
