Summary

Description
English: Brough Castle, near to Brough, Cumbria, Great Britain.

The castle was built circa 1170 within the remains of the Roman Fort of Verterae

and restored in the 17th century. Amongst much else it was plundered and burnt by Edward Bruce, brother of King Robert the Bruce, in August 1314.
