Summary
| DescriptionBrodie Castle (49951508372).jpg |
Most of his castle, in Morayshire, Scotland dates from 1824 but the tower seen at the right was built in 1567. The castle and estates had been owned by the Brodie family for hundreds of years. They are known to have lived in this area since 1160. Only in very recent years did the castle become the property of the National Trust after the maintenance and upkeep became too much for the family to continue. The 25th Chief of the Brodie Clan, Ninian Brodie of Brodie - known as "The Brodie of Brodie" lived on in the castle and acted as a guide to visitors for a few years but died, aged 90, in 2003. The castle and grounds are open to visitors, except in the winter. In spring there is a large collection of Daffodils. |
