English: Billy the Seal, Victoria Park, Cardiff The paddling pool (drained for the winter) is behind this monument to the famous Billy the Seal Billy was accidentally caught in fishing nets in 1912 and was "re-homed" in Victoria park. When the area flooded in 1927 he temporarily escaped and tried to board a tram. When he died in 1939 "he" was found to be a "she". |
